November 25, 1942 – April 8, 2013

SAVANNAH – Margaret slipped away peacefully in her sleep to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday. April 8, 2013.

She was born in Savannah, GA on November 25, 1942 to Christopher and Catherine Eason Russell. Margie was raised in the Irish Catholic community and was a 1960 graduate of St. Vincent's Academy. She also worked at Bell Telephone and was employed at Memorial Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 2008.

Margaret married John Rowell at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on January 16, 1965. To this union were born four sons; John Jr. deceased; Michael Christopher Jennifer; Timothy Tobia; and Jeffrey Cheryl. Five grandsons and one granddaughter, Connor, Aidan, Samuel, Jack, Caleb, and Clara, were her delight. She is also survived by her brother, James Russell Kathy of Peachtree City, GA, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband John, son Johnny, parents, brother Christopher Russell, and sister Catherine Russell Wells.

She was a member of the Daughters of Ireland and for many years sang in the St. Vincent's Alumni Choir. Margaret was a loyal supporter of St. Vincent's. Margie loved to bowl with her cousin Eileen Tillman and was a member of the Catholic Bowling League. She was also a longtime member of the Bunco League.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
